CALLING A TIME-OUT
For most people I know, it’s been a bit much…
This rapid paced year, hurtling at a ridiculous speed towards what will soon be the Christmas-decorations-in-shopping-aisles stage…
So much on the go…
Demands, deadlines, expectations, social gatherings, work commitments, school functions, family ‘musts’…
The ‘normals’ of life…
At times exhilarating…
At times devastating…
And at the pace we enter into them, often completely depleting…
The result of non-stop, full-on, never-ceasing commitments swirled inside a tumbleweed of rush is inevitable…
Rollercoaster emotions, meltdowns across all ages, utter exhaustion…
Fantasies of a world standing still while we just try catch up… even a little…
But the world won’t stop…
The uncontrollable vortex of ‘too muchery’ will continue…
Until we recognize the most essential survival skill in a frenetic whirlpool…
Calling a Time-Out…
For a day
For an hour
For whatever moments we can
No one hands out permission slips
To pause…
To breathe…
To say ‘Enough’…
And the longer we try to keep up with the chaos,
The more tattered and frayed we become,
And the more likely we are to remain irreparably worn…
Sign that slip, my friend.
Only your signature is valid
Say ‘No’ to all that’s not essential,
Kick that FOMO to the curb-
Let what can wait, wait…
Preserve the fumes you may be running on,
And fill your soul with breath instead
A pause for air tends to ignite energy again…
Take that day.
Say, ‘Enough.’
Call ‘Time-Out’
The world and all its expectations will still be there when you get back on the playing field,
You’ll just be far better equipped to rejoin the race.
Take it.
Call it.
You absolutely deserve it.
Time-Out.
With love and permission slips,
Naomi ♥️
