To all expecting parents

Ginny entered our lives 6 months into Hayley’s pregnancy. She added the dimension of listening, understanding, and supporting our needs which we hadn’t experienced with the people we had dealt with until then.

Like a breath of fresh air, Ginny listed and understood our needs and offered unbiased advice and information related to the various aspects of pregnancy and birth. More importantly Ginny supported Hayley in her decision and provided valuable input into those decisions rather than just trying to change her mind with negatives.

As a doula, Ginny was always on hand to show support, be a source of information and give insight on the pregnancy and birthing process. As time to the birth day wound down and the nerves began to show, Ginny calmed those nerves and put everything into perspective.

As first-time parents we were nervous with anticipation, Ginny put a calm order on proceedings and made the process of going to the hospital and going through the initial stages of labour relaxed and pleasant.

During labour it was great to have someone there with you that you know, trust and have personal rapport with to explain all the equipment, monitors and processes leading up to the birth. Ginny offered the personal touch, emotional support and understanding which took the stress and the unknown out of giving birth.

As an expecting father, I didn’t feel that involved in the early stages of pregnancy. When Ginny came around I stopped feeling like a spare wheel and got more involved and thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of the pregnancy and the birth of our son.

Having a doula during pregnancy and for the birth of our son, Aiden was the best decision we made. It puts the process into perspective and took the uncertainty out of becoming a parent. Ginny added her personal touch to our lives and even though Hayley had a difficult deliver, it made the experience for both of us a pleasure and we were able to treasure that very special moment when Aiden was born.

After Aiden was born, it was great to have Ginny’s wealth of knowledge on hand to show us how to do nappy changes, bathing, breastfeeding, and burping properly. It made those first 2 weeks of having a newborn at home seem a lot easier.

Looking back, a Doula is a support system for expecting parents. We got unbiased, insightful, and sensitive support that catered for our needs and made the road to the birth of our child a pleasant and very rewarding experience. Ginny’s personal touch and enthusiasm was a welcome change to the service we had experience and we highly recommend that any expecting parents make use of Ginny.

Best Wishes,
Hayley, Al and Aiden.
