Dr Kathryn Carr joined the team at Townbush doctors in March 2021. She graduated from UCT medical school in 2007 and did her internship at McCord Hospital in Duban. After spending a further 3 years in the discipline of paediatrics, during which time she obtained her diploma in Child Health, she moved into private General Practice in Durban North. Dr Carr’s family has now relocated to Pietermaritzburg.
Dr Carr is dedicated to delivering holistic health care for the whole family. Wellness and prevention measures forms an important part of the care she strives to offer her patients.
With a significant background in paediatric work, Dr Carr is competent in dealing with neonates, toddlers and children. This area of medicine is her passion. She also enjoys the area of woman’s health.
Dr Carr seeks to provide compassionate care in a secure, comfortable environment. She endeavours to look after her patients’ physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being, and to foster an ongoing relationship with those in her care.
Dr Carr also prioritises continued professional development; she seeks to keep abreast with developments and changes in the medical field, with application to daily practice. She places high value on a multidisciplinary approach and good relationships with specialist and allied colleagues. As such she will not hesitate to facilitate referrals where appropriate. She enjoys the role of communicator and prioritises helping patients navigate specialised areas of medicine and facilitating comprehension of diagnoses and health care plans.
Townbush doctors is conveniently located on Townbush road close to Cascades shopping centre. It is a safe accessible facility which is home to 3 general practitioners, as well an a pharmacy, a dietician, an occupational therapist and an Ampath laboratory depot.
The facility is equipped to look after a wide range of medical and health needs.
PAEDIATRIC VACCINES
We are pleased to let you know that we are getting a Paediatric vaccine facility up and running at Townbush Doctors. Dr. Kath Carr will be facilitating this initiative. Vaccinations on the Expanded Programme of Immunisation (EPI) will be offered (government schedule) as well as the additional private vaccines.
